Kilocycle Club Net Control Outline

[Do not read items in brackets on the air, they are notes for net control (you)]

[Begin the net at 2030 hours (8:30pm) and be sure to ID with your callsign every 10 mins]

[You will need a way to write down callsigns as they call so you don’t lose track]

[You may adapt this outline to suit you. This is a suggested outline, not a requirement]

This is [YOUR CALLSIGN], net control for tonight’s session of the Kilocycle Club’s Tuesday nightnet. My name is [YOUR FIRST NAME], coming to you from [YOUR APPROX LOCATION].

This is a directed net sponsored by the Kilocycle Club, W5SH, and all traffic will be directed through net control. You may interrupt this net for emergency traffic at any time with your call-sign or the appropriate pro-sign. Is there any emergency traffic?

[UNKEY AND WAIT A FEW SECONDS, if emergency traffic comes, that is priority]

Nothing heard.

The Kilocycle Club meets on the third Thursday at the Ol’ South Pancake House in Fort Worth, on University near I-30. Our meetings start at 1900 hours [pronounced “nineteen hundred hours”; or say 7:00pm]. Come out a bit early and join us for dinner. We have a short business meeting, ham radio license testing and face to face QSO [pronounced Q-So] time. Everyone is invited to our meetings. You do not need a radio license to join us at the meetings.

[UNKEY AND LET THE REPEATER RESET]

We hold our nets every Tuesday at 2030 hours [pronounced “twenty thirty hours”; or say 8:30pm] on 146.840, with a PL tone of 110.9. This net is open to all licensed amateur radio operators and their guests. We ask everyone listening to participate in the net with your questions and input, as well as to suggest future training topics. Do we have any announcements for the net? Please come with your callsign and wait to be recognized.

[UNKEY AND WAIT A COUPLE SECONDS]

[If there was traffic, recognize them and ask for the traffic. Then ask for any other announcements.]

This is [YOUR CALLSIGN], net control for tonight’s session of the Kilocycle Club’s Tuesday night net. At this time, let’s get started with check-ins for the net. Any licensed amateur radio operators, or third-party check-ins, are welcome.

[***OPTIONAL SECTION***]

If there are any low power QRP stations, HT stations or mobile stations that may need to check in before getting out of range, please come now with your call-sign slowly and phonetically and your first name.

[QRP check-ins; recognize the operators after the group checks in]

We will now open the net to all other check-ins.

[***CONTINUE FROM HERE if skipping optional low power check ins***]

Please come 3 [or 5] at a time with your call-sign slowly and phonetically and your first name.

[After each group of check-ins, acknowledge the operators you heard]

The net recognizes [read back the new callsigns on list]

[If the check-ins came quickly and more are waiting, go back and get another set before moving on to their traffic]

[Call each operator for traffic one at a time for discussions, traffic, etc.]

[REPEAT asking for groups of check-ins until they are almost complete, the following is the final time you are asking for check-ins]

Are there any other stations that have not checked in that would like to do so at this time, or are there any other comments, announcements or questions?

[WAIT A COUPLE SECONDS]

[GIVE YOUR CALLSIGN (if you haven’t done so. You must ID every 10 mins)]

As a reminder, we hold our nets every Tuesday night at 2030 hours [pronounced “twenty thirty hours”; or say 8:30pm] on this repeater, 146.840, with a PL of 110.9. This net is open to all licensed amateur radio operators and their guests. We hope to hear you next week.

Don’t forget to come see us at our meetings on the third Thursday at the Ol’ South Pancake House in Fort Worth, on University near I-30 at 1900 hours [nineteen hundred hours; or say 7:00 pm].

We encourage all hams to expand your radio skills. If you would like to conduct this net, please send an email to W5MAA@yahoo.com or use the contact page on the website at W5SH.net (also, W5SH.org).

Including myself, we had [NUMBER OF CHECK-INS] check-ins for tonight’s net. We will now close this session of the Kilocycle Club Tuesday night net at [CURRENT TIME] and return the repeater to normal amateur use.
